N. ‘Purple Fantasy‘ is a new introduction from Florida Aquatic Nurseries for 2015. This new isg is a hardy, deep purple waterlily, with a bright yellow center. The flower is 4 to 5 inches in diameter and is held high above the water. The pads are green. Note: This waterlily is Patent Pending and may not be propagated.

Purple Fantasy is an ISG (Hardy x Tropical) hybrid and it should do very well in Virginia. It has been grown well in Denver, Colorado for several years. Since the first plants were just released 2 weeks ago we do not have any personal history with the plant. Waterlily growers have waited over 100 years for a true purple hardy waterlily, that is why Purple Fantasy is creating such excitement! There is also an extremely limited supply so as the season wears on the price is climbing. The plant is patented so it can not be reproduced, which is adding to its scarcity.
