Lotus Paradise is the first garden to receive this distinction in the 37 year history of the IWGS. Over the past 5 years, Bergen Water Gardens has worked diligently to collect, import and grow one of the largest collections of lotus (<em>Nelumbo<\/em>) outside of China. To meet the IWGS&#8217;s Collection of Excellence, there must be a minimum of 75 varieties on lotus on display. We currently grow close to 400 varieties of Chinese lotus in 2019. Thank you to the International Waterlily and Water Gardening Society for this esteemed designation. Its flowers are pink and the first day, the second day is lavender-pink. Flowers can get 6 to 8 inches and have a pleasant anise scent to them. Leaves can grow to 14 to 22 inches in diameter.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nN. 'Maggie Belle Slocum': This lotus features a huge lavender - pink flower, measuring 10 to 12 inches.
