Nepenthes (lowii x macrophylla) x robcantleyi BE 4018

$300.00

N. (x ‘trusmadiensis’) x robcantleyi was first introduced June 2020, by Borneo Exotics.  These are seed-grown individuals with a limited release, which when sold out will later slowly be replaced under a different BE-code with a random assortment from many clones out of microprop.

More correctly, this item is N. (lowii x macrophylla) x robcantleyi. If you know Nepenthes, you will realize just how extremely spectacular both parent species are! The female parent is N x trusmadiensis raised from seed in our nurseries and the male parent is the giant black N. robcantleyi, with the cultivar name ‘King of Spades’.

Borneo Exotics waited for a very long time to make this dream cross between one of the most spectacular of all natural hybrids and one of the most iconic of species. At the time of introduction, even juvenile pitchers are highly attractive with pronounced peristome ribs. They expect this cross to produce huge and amazing pitchers when mature.

 EXTREMELY IMPORTANT NOTE!

This item results from a multiple pollination of a single female flower of N x trusmadiensis and as some plants to be shipped may be still too small to allow a positive identification, there is a small risk (we would guess perhaps less than 5%) that any of the plants we ship may be incorrectly labelled. The other possible identities would be either:

N. (x trusmadiensis) x burbidgeae or N. (x trusmadiensis) x aristolochioides

Plants are potted in a 4 inch pot filled with long fiber sphagnum moss plus perlite.

Climate: Highland

Tropical Pitcher Plant (Nepenthes sp.) Care

  • Best to use only pure water – rainwater, distilled water or RO water. Be careful of bottled water as some contain salt which will kill your Tropical Pitcher plant
  • Keep a small amount of pure water in each trap. Mist plants regularly.
  • Keep soil moist; but well drained at all times. Do Not let your Nepenthes sit in water
  • Nepenthes like partial sunny location. They grow well on windowsills or under fluorescent lights in a terrarium.
  • Soil is mixture 3 parts long fiber sphagnum with 1 part perlite or 1 part fine orchid bark.
  • Fertilize Nepenthes with foliar fertilizer. ¼ tsp of Maxsea per gallon of water, 2 times a month
  • Nepenthes like to grow warm: above 50 degrees. Ideal is 65 to 80 degrees with high humidity.

Note: Pitchers will change in color and shape as they mature. Often there are also several different clones in our mix, so the pitchers may vary slightly for this reason as well.
