N. ‘Graceful Guanyin’ lotus is a fabulous lotus to add to your collection. The flowers are large, 11 inches, versicolor and held high above it’s green leaves. Blooming starts early in the season and lasts for about 70 days. Guanyin is the East Asian deity of mercy. Guanyin is short for Guanshiyin which translates into “Observing the sounds (cries) of the world.” Some Buddhists believe that when one departs from this world, they are placed by Guanyin in the heart of a lotus, and then sent to the western pure land of Sukhava.
